$100 of Lychee & Bilimbi:
The woman I get the mangosteen from has the best lychee I've
ever had. She also picks out any of the ones that might not
last as well, so it's a good deal actually. This is 25 pounds
of lychee at $4/pound. You can get lychee here for less -
$3 a pound, but it's nowhere near as good & not all of
them are good. She threw in the 4 bilimbi (AKA pickle fruit)
for free 'cause she knows I can't eat much of them anyway
since I eat my stuff all raw & they're so sour. |
$20 of Mountain Apples
Yeah, they're pretty expensive, but they're good ones
and it's rare to get good ones at market as they bruise
up so easily and all. We've got some on our own tree, but
they're not quite ready yet. It's one of the few fruits
my son will eat readily these days. |
$20 of White Sapote
This is pretty expensive too, however I haven't
been able to get them from anyone else in years, so I'm
getting these. They're not the best specimins, but they
usually end up tasting great - if they aren't stung that
is (then they go bad before ripening).

$5 Pineapple:
This is the first of the organic pineapples of the season,
so it's a bit more than usual. The price will go down radically
in about a month. |
$1 of citrus:
These are a kind of orange, that's like lemon in taste.
Lemons are out of season right now, so I'm getting these
instead. Our lemon tree will be producing ripe ones in a
few weeks I think.

Pet Food (not pictured)
I also got carrot tops and lettuce leaf discards
from an organic farmer at the farmer's market. I feed them
to my guinea pigs. He lets me and another family with rabbits
take them. The other family didn't show, so I got it all.
I got fresh fish discards from the fish market for my dog
and cat too.
